SirEdwin Henry Landseer (March 1802 - October 1873) was a British painter well know for his paintings of animals - especially horses, dogs and stags. He was commissioned by Queen Victoria to paint the royal pets and was even asked to paint a portrait of the queen herself, which led to additional works of the queen and Prince Albert. He best known works are the lion sculptures in Trafalgar Square.
